ASSA Survey Closes February 28
If you registered for the 2025 ASSA Annual Meeting, you were sent a short survey requesting information about your experience with the new activities, including the lightning rounds, mentoring/networking luncheon, and recent developments lecture series. The AEA is gathering feedback to consider what other changes, new activities, and engaging opportunities it could plan for future meetings to draw economists from all academic levels, fields, and organizations. The survey closes on February 28. Please check your email for the survey link. Contact assa@aeaweb.org if you have any questions.
Joint Report on Improving the Publication Process
In 2024, the AEA joined with the Econometric Society, European Economic Association, and Royal Economic Society to form an ad hoc multi-association committee (Guido Imbens (chair), Joseph Altonji, Kevin Lang, Erzo F.P. Luttmer, Imran Rasul, Stefanie Stantcheva, and Romain Wacziarg) to consider and make recommendations for improving journal processes in the economics profession. The committee has now released its report, “Improving the Publications Process in Economics,” which can be read at https://www.econometricsociety.org/uploads/documents/editorial/Improving Publication Process in Economics Report_2025.pdf. The report reflects the recommendations and ideas of the members of the ad hoc committee and is meant to encourage discussion. It does not necessarily reflect the views of the AEA or the other associations. The AEA will consider the recommendations at its next meeting of the executive committee in April, and would like to thank the ad hoc committee members for investing their time and efforts into this important matter.
Feel free to send comments to the committee at econjournalscommittee@gmail.com.
