AEA Annual Elections. The Nominating Committee, consisting of Richard Thaler (Chair), Katherine Abraham, Marianne Bertrand, Rachel Kranton, Alan Krueger, Paul Milgrom, Thomas Philippon and Valerie Ramey submitted its nominations for Vice-Presidents and elected members of the Executive Committee on April 20. The Electoral College, consisting of the Nominating Committee and the Executive Committee's voting members together, then selected the nominee for President-elect. The 2018 slate of candidates for 2019 Officers is:

Congratulations to the 2018 John Bates Clark Medalist Parag Pathak. Awarded annually to an economist under the age of 40, the John Bates Clark Medal recognizes outstanding research accomplishments in economics. Please join the AEA Electoral College, consisting of the Association's Honors and Awards Committee and voting members of the Executive Committee, in congratulating Parag Pathak of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. The 2018 AEA Distinguished Fellows are Henry Aaron, Francine Blau, Joel Mokyr and Richard Posner. The Distinguished Fellow award recognizes the lifetime research contributions of up to four distinguished economists each year. The Code of Professional Conduct for Economists was revised in response to more than 200 comments received by the membership on an initial draft of the Code distributed in January, and the AEA Executive Committee voted on April 20 to adopt the revised Code. The Ad Hoc Committee charged with considering the Code, composed of John Campbell (chair), Marianne Bertrand, Pascaline Dupas, Benjamin Edelman, and Matthew D. Shapiro, thanks all members who offered feedback on the initial draft and would like to emphasize that it read and considered carefully every comment that was submitted. The annual American Economic Journal (AEJ) Best Paper Award highlights the best paper published in each of the American Economic Journals: Applied Economics, Economic Policy, Macroeconomics, and Microeconomics over the last three years. Nominations are provided by AEA members, and winners are selected by the journals' editors, co-editors, and boards of editors. The AEA Committees on Statistics (AEAStat) and Government Relations (AEACGR) have developed a statement on the principles of economic measurement. The statement will be used to educate policy makers and others, and to provide guidance regarding the principles and procedures that are important for the development of new measures or changes to key economic indicators.
