How do sustainable lending practices spur financial innovation?
Anya Kleymenova is a Principal Economist at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. She sat down for an interview at the 2025 AEA poster session to talk about the incentives that drive banks to introduce Sustainability-Linked Loans (SLLs). She found that major banks in the global syndicated markets are more likely to offer SLLs than domestically focused banks because they can help promote international expansion.
